Evalutaion

I thought that my exp video was good because it was different from what i had done before.
Doing the still framing was hard from what videos i had made in the past.
Last year all we did was a normal video with little effects but this year was harder to make and took longer as well.
I do think its good but it was not as good as some peoples in the class but if we had longer time maybe i could have made it much better then it was, many peoples video has a very good story ling and good filming.

The information i got back from other people was good.
for my first question it was what did you think of the video?
people answer- really good, loved it, amazing also that it had a good narrative structure, interesting every body loved the pacman in it also they thought that the video was good for an exp video.

Question 2- What would you change about the video?
i think the video was fine and doesn't need changing,show more of what the film means,
making the stop frame smoother, mouth moving on pack man and nothing.
I would not have changed much of the video apart from the movement of the camera.

Question 3- Do you think teenagers would enjoy it?
some yes, music was modern teens would enjoy the concept of the film,
they would like Pacman, they would like it because they spend a lot of time listening to music,
they will if they had basic knowledge's of pacman.
When i was thinking of the film i always wanted to make it for teenagers.

Question 4- Do you think it took long?
a lot said yes and some even said the time like 6hours, 4 hours
When i created the film i always new that the filming would take long to
do but but i still created it.

Question 5- What was your reaction to the video?
fine and enjoyable, it look like i thought hard to think of the idea and developed the idea,
a musical inspiration, good, very creative.
when i was editing i was really impressed by the way it turned out.

Question 6- What do you think about the music?
good, like the music it went well with the video, great modern music, funky, catchy
and up beat, exciting, good, liked it was because there were different styles, you have a vast knowledge of garage band.
i was kinda worried about the music for the film i had only little time to do it
but i think it was a big success.

I am really happy with what people had said about the video seeing as i didn't have a long time to make it.
I'm glad people have enjoyed it and i hope they will enjoy more films to come.
I have now watched most of the films and they are very good, i really am please with the work and i cant wait to do another one.

Dear Diary

I have final finished my exp film it took a long time to do but i managed to finish it.
Its not a very long film but it did take a long time to film because it is still frame.
I managed to make some good music to that goes.

I was hoping the meaning would come to people about music i have also used some humor in it like
Pack man who follows Nathan around the college on floor 4.

The film has some really good music that i had put in the back ground.
It also took a while to cut all the pieces out and stick them on the wall the Pack man going across the wall was quite hard to film because it would come off the wall it also took a long time to do because it had to go from on end to the other which took half an hour to do.

I like the film now but i wish i could put more into it but i think its good the way it is and i hope other people enjoy it as well.

my first idea i had for my video was to have animation of people made by playdo where they would be walking around and fighting but i was thinking that it would be to hard to do and be a long time to make and i would not have a lot of time to do it.

i was thinking of many thoughts my first one was not to bully then i thought of music i was thinking of many thing i had beat boxing for my first music and how you can make muisc by anything, i also thought still having still framing in it that they should be alot of movement e.g. like music nots coming out.

i thought of having pacman to make it funky also i put in a table tennis game moving across the wall. i used nathan for my video he had to look like he was creating music.
i still have not finished my video i would like to put in people lisoning to them music and every one enjoying it.

the filming took a long time to do because i had to have pacman going across the wall on floor 4 which took half an hour to do.
i also had him going under the door radio room door he was ment to spit out the music notes but you could not see them coming out so i only let out to.

the end of the film pacman goes but i would like to put in some more like people lisoning to the radio and the music is coming out.
i have a few more ideas to put in my film but im not sure yet.

Chameleon! Tina Gonsalves

Chameleon was art that we saw in Brighton,
Chameleon is made by peoples faces on a screen that made reactions when you did something in the camera. I didn't really enjoy it that much. most of the time it didn't work, I like the thought of it making expressions of how you were feeling but some of it was over acted and most of the people looked sad so it felt like a game that you had to make them smile.

Tina Gonsalves was the woman who created it, it must have taken a long time to think of the idea when i first saw it I thought there was people up stairs who was being filmed and watching peoples reactions.

The way I think of how they done it was they got a load of people to do some reactions on camera and someone did ones to the people and told them to do a reaction so when someone Else done it they would do the same one.

Gisece Kerozene

Gisece Kerozene was created in 1989
The film was made by stop framing, in the film there are 4 witches chasing each other on broom sticks, the film is quite gory with death and blood into it but also funny at the same time.

The film that was done in France was done by stop framing when the witches were flying in the air they had to jump then take a photo. the film is also speed up to make it not so long and to look better.
the film would have taken a few months to make.

In this film there are 4 witches and three of them are praying to there god and the other witch steals it and they go flying around, the film has some good humor for the audience like they fly past super man. the film does not have much of a basic story line it is mainly random,

Doll Face! by Andy Wang

Doll face was created by a guy called Andy Wang,

doll face is about a robot who is fixed on looking like someone she is not
by a picture of a woman on the TV.
as the film goes on the robot puts make up on her to seem more real and look like the woman on the TV.

the film was created by animation by computer and they use blue or green screening to use her face. this would have taken a few months to make, in animation it takes a long time because you also need to build the model so you know the basics, in this film there is not a lot in the back ground just a box. when the box opens a robot comes and an looks at the TV

i think Andy Wang is trying to show how people want to look like people they are not.
on the TV it shows other things going on in the background but the robot does not notice she just wants to see the face so she can try and look like her.
as this happens the TV moves away and she tries to get closer.
in the end she cant reach what she is trying to be.

i think Andy Wang puts this in because people are trying to be people there not and the reason why she is a robot is because other people are being controlled by people.

Girl chewing gum! John Smith

Girl chewing gum was created by John Smith in 1976 Girl chewing gum is a video of a guy narrating people in the street. How the video is done is that someone filmed the street or it was already filmed and John Smith was talking over it.

This then makes people think that he is standing there telling people to do stuff. there is also an alarm in the back ground that has been put on to go with on of the characters. some of the stuff he said was to quick and it would happen five minutes later.

at the end of the film he explained were he is in a field and there is a bird in the tree. this can confuse the audience to think is he spying on people. In the end u find out that the people in the video are not acting just showing off in front of the camera which makes the film more interesting. i think that this video took time to make because i think they had to choose which film they wanted to use. The film is also likes its tricking the audience but you dont find till later that its not real.

chapter 2

Girl chewing gum was made in 1976 with no colour cameras even tho there technology was not as good as today's they could still add a sound track on the back ground.

Doll face was created in 2006 its animation of a robot the technology is good now you can do it whit out using a camera but with a computer even the sound effects is good, Doll face would have taken time to make but girl chewing gum took longer.

with girl chewing gum they used a Sony DV-2400 Video ROVER Portapack Camera, which was really expensive to buy and to make the film
with doll face it didn't take much money to spend.

with doll face even tho it is used by animation it still looks real from the technology they have used, with girl chewing gum even tho the technology is not as good as today's its still good how they made it in 1976.

chapter 3

A narrative film has a story line that in it like Koyaanisqatsi which has a story to it like nature and man made things. films that have a narrative are normal films that you see in the cinema but films that are in an art gallery people don't watch the end they watch for a few minutes and leave.
A non narrative is a film like moto which did have a story line so the people could think of the story line themselves. some non narrative can go on for a while and some narrative films have to have an ending

Chapter 1

doll face and girl chewing gum are the smiler in lots of ways because how they are repesented, the doll is about beauty and looking like someone your not.
girl chewing gum is a person narrating the life of people he tells people what to do like he is directing it.

chapter 6 what the audince think

Many people who watch experimental video can have many reactions to the video
depending on what there watching.
Some of the experimental videos can be real life and show bad things in the planet like Koyaanisqatsi which can effect people into recycling.

or a film like Gisele Kerozene dir which can freak people out or make people laugh.
Its important to get a reaction because if you made a scary film and people look scared that means that your film has effects, same with comedy, thriller, etc.
it is important that people have effects when they are wathing a film.if no one had reactions when watching videos then there would be nothing people could watch and enjoy.

if you have to people watching a film and one person thought the film was funny and the other person thought it was not funny, if there was a whole load of people watching a film then every body would think the same. if you watch a film by yourself you dont take notice of any thing but when your with other people you take notice of the film.

my ideas chapter 5

I have lots of ideas for my experimental video.
I would like to make the film by taking pictures like the film Gisele Kerozene dir. but do it different by using play doh or something else.
i would like to use animals or people in my video.
I'm not sure what i want my film to be based on.

in my video i might have to people fighting over things and one falls off the table, the film can be based on sharing things or if i do an animal one then i can make it about the environment.
the film will be made shot by shot and it will take a couple of weeks to make only for a three minute video.
sound effects will be put on the video some will be from the computer and some will be made by me.

Koyaanisqatsi

The creator of the film is Godfrey Reggio it took six years to film they used bits of other films ( thing shining) over the mountains. some of the film was based in America some of the people in the film are not actors its real life.
The film is based on destruction and nature, some of the film shows nature destroying its self normally and it shows man made stuff being blown up. in the film it shows nature degrading away and then shows man destroying nature quicker and shows stuff they don't want that was a waist of money to build.
The music in Koyaanisquasi was slow and peaceful with men singing strange words, when things get blown up the music becomes a violin which is playing really fast to make it more tense.
when you see people in Koyaanisqatsi it shows then waisting good resources like water. it also shows people not caring about the world so throwing rubbish on the floor and graffiti.

Chapter 4

The context in which you view the work is often as important as the work itself. The place were the piece of art it can change the mood of people seeing it, some art gallery's can be quiet to respect and to notice things in the picture closer. some art gallery's can be more noisier then other gallery's in which some people can not take as much notice in pictures because there is to much noise and they can not focus of the art.

The craft is an animation by painting on a wall which changes into different things, the animation is done by taking 25pics per 1second the film that we watched when on for 6 minutes which would take the artiest 1 week to make.
the concept is a lot of things the one thing that i think the concept is, is life and death because of the way the picture grew and died.
i think that the craft is very good how they came up with what happened in every picture and what they looked like- the sound over is very good if one of the images climes on a door it would make a different sound for when it would be walking on the wall.
